Making It With Allie - Valentine's Festivities

Hello Friends!

We have been very busy around here -getting ready for Valentine's Day.
And of course, the sickness that's been making its way around our elementary, found it's way into our home.
I HATE "the crud".  Really hate it. No more than anybody else does.
But more than I hate mice, but less than spiders...
Anyways, we made it through Valentines.
I wanted to share a few of the fun things we were able to have done for Valentines.

Remember, my "AYNIL Quilt" from a couple of weeks ago?

Well, I made some coordinating pillows for it!
And I LOVE them!
 They are reversible.

Then, AuBrynne and I prepared her Valentines.
She made EVERY decision on how these babies turned out.
And SHE decided they needed to be done on my "machine", aka: Silhouette SD.
And they turned out CUTE!

These are the cookies she decorated.
You should have seen her decorating them with a mask and gloves so she wouldn't get anybody sick!

AuBrynne chose THESE as her favorites.  They might be mine too!
How was all of your Valentines?

Now, it's time for the
Making It With Allie Party!
What have you got this week?
I am anxious to see!

Making It With Allie - AuBrynne Lou Who

Hello Friends!
What have you been up to this last week?
Getting ready for Valentines Day??
We have around here, but today I am going to share with you a quilt my daughter, AuBrynne "commissioned" me to make for her.
I just LOVE this kid!
SO, AuBrynne just LOVES the Dr. Suess story about the Grinch.
She would watch both the animated version and the Jim Carey version and read the book and play the nook app 3 times a day if I let her.
So, when we were at one of my favorite fabric stores last week, she spotted this Grinch fabric.
It was on sale, so I grabbed a yard thinking I would quickly make her a pillow case.
But then, we were picking plush fabric out for another project and she said, "Hey! I think this Pink fabric would be great with my Grinch fabric."
I first, was like, "My name is Mom, or Allie, not hey..." and silently I looked at her as if she had two heads. She looks at me like that all the time when I ask her not to leave her pj's on the bathroom floor every morning after bath.  It's her turn.
But, I grabbed some plush for her.
She decided at that point, I was making everyone else a quilt, she needed one too.
Well, later I decided we had gone this far with letting her choose the fabrics, why not let her do the rest.
So, she chose another 11 fabrics to go in her quilt.
Great.
So, I got to work, whipping this together for her.
Then, she said her name needed to be on it "All Sparkly"
Great.
But, I am Wonder-Woman, I can do anything, right?
Ok, So I grabbed some white flock heat transfer and this SUPER Fantastic Pink Soft and flexible glitter heat transfer and layered in on.
It turned out AWESOME!!
It's perfectly whimsical and cuddly and AuBrynne made the most perfect choices!
I am SO pleased with it!

She even chose the rounded corners!

I hope you can see the fun wavy quilting lines!

And after the heat transfer was added, she said it needed pink stitching around the letters.
And you know what???
She is is EXACTLY right, Little Miss Smarty-Pants!

So, I'm in love with it and love to cuddle with her under it!

Now, it's time for the

Making It With Allie: All You Need Is Love

Hello friends!
Note to Self: Remember to hit "Publish" to actually post.... I'm tired and busy....
Sorry this didn't get up earlier!

How are you all doing?  I hope well! And crafty!
I have been sewing up a storm and preparing some patterns for classes locally.
My bloggy bff, Jenn and many of you lovelys have encouraged me to start an Etsy store.
And I think I'm going to get one going!
Yay! I think...

So I have been working to get things together to have in the store.
The first is going to be this lovely wall hanging.

I wish glitter showed up better in photos...
But the lettering is glitter heat transfer and flocking!
I love it!
I'm going to sell kits that are pre-cut to make the wall hangings and quilts and also the patterns.
The quilts and wall hangings will also be for sale completed, for those who don't have the time to make it themselves.

So, what do you think??
Anybody have any suggestions for fun shop names?
Do you think it needs be the same as my blog? Or Coordinate?

Now, it's time for the
Making It With Allie Party!

Making It With Allie - Modern Baby

Hello friends!
How have you been?
I have been pretty busy but have finally had a few moments to take some pictures to share with you all!

Last week I was working on a baby-quilt for one of my clients.
She informed me that the quilt had to be gender neutral but otherwise, I could pretty much do whatever I wanted.
Did you know, there really isn't such a thing as "gender neutral"???
But I won't get started down that path.  I might have to rant.
So.... I decided given a few things she told me about the mom-to-be, that brights would be a good starting point.
So, I carried on with my "modern quilting" self and ended up with the snuggliest baby quilt ever!
The back has super soft plush and satin and the front is geometric brights in a modern stripe pattern.
I assembled the binding to match and coordinate the striped section of the quilt.

Can you believe I forgot to get a picture of this one in full?!
Sleep-deprived.

I deliver my quilts wrapped.
This is how this one was delivered.

Now, it's time for the

Making It With Allie - Tap! Tap! Tap! Is this thing on....

Hello friends!
I had to take a break from blogging.
I have been SO busy that I just didn't have time.
I literally haven't even had the time to take pictures of all the work I have been doing.
Christmas, from me, was a handmade Christmas.  So, with all of the relatives to have gifts made for, I was extremely busy.
Then, I thought the traditional trip to Florida for Christmas would be leisurely... HA! That was a marathon.
Then, I thought I might have a chance to get a breath after Christmas, but that was wishful thinking.
So, needless to say, I am catching up and getting pictures taken to share with you all in the coming weeks.
AND.....
I am planning some REALLY fun (in my opinion) things for those of you who would like to participate.
So, I am SUPER excited!
And I hope you will all bear with me as I get things rounded up and together to share with you.
And to share with you what I started this evening after the little Princess went to bed -have a look at this and tell me how these colors and arrangement strikes you! -I appreciate all your feed-back!
The bright colored strips are finished 1 inch wide and the white strips are finished half inch wide.

Welcome!  It's time for the

Making It With Allie - A Cozy Cuddly

Welcome friends!
I am so excited to be able to share  one of the quilts my bestie Hollie and I made whole we were visiting for Thanksgiving this year!

One of Hollie's daughters, Sophi asked for a super cozy quilt to match her Hot Pink, Black and White room for her Christmas present this year.
Hollie was a little bit skeptical of getting it finished with all the other projects on the list, but we easily finished it.
And it turned out SO awesome that I've finished more since.
I think I might have to have an etsy shop for them... You all will have to let me know if that's a good idea...
Anyways, have a look at Sophi's Super Cozy Quilt!
We used various wovens, and flannel for the top; and swirl minkee, and embossed minkee for the back.
Then we used satin for the binding.

I was surprised to hear that Hollie wanted to learn how to bind a quilt....
So, I must ask: Would you guys like a binding tutorial?
